Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) Officially Launched
On the morning of March 2, 2024, the grand opening ceremony of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (“APIAC”) Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) was held at Huangjin Bay·Zhigu in Shapingba District, Chongqing. The ceremony brought together dignitaries from various sectors including government, commerce, and education, with all guests gathering to witness the ceremony of the new chapter for APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing).

Mr. Ma Zhanjun, Chairman of the APIAC, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He stated that the establishment of APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) marks the official beginning of the Chamber's presence in mainland China. Since its establishment, APIAC has targeted the market for trade disputes within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative and China-ASEAN cooperation, committed to providing legal services for Chinese enterprises venturing abroad and multinational corporations entering the Chinese market, through international arbitration. Relying on Singapore’s existing status as an international arbitration and mediation center, APIAC will play a pivotal role in promoting dispute resolution across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) unveiled at this ceremony will also serve as an important platform for the development of international arbitration legal services.

Mr. Jiang Xuejun, Deputy General Manager of Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park, expressed that the establishment of the APIAC at the Land-Sea New Channel Legal Service Center in Shapingba District provides solid legal support for multinational corporations entering China and Chinese enterprises, especially those in Chongqing, venturing abroad. Simultaneously, it takes new development vitality into Chongqing's efforts to create a first-class international business environment. Mr. Jiang Xuejun congratulated the establishment of APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) in the International Logistics Hub Park, expressing hopes for comprehensive cooperation between the two sides to jointly promote the resolution of trade disputes involving foreign enterprises and make greater contributions to creating a market-oriented, rule-of-law, and internationalized business environment.

Subsequently, all leaders and guests moved outdoors to enjoy lion dance performances and the unveiling ceremony. With spirited drumbeats, the lions awakened, exuding majestic momentum in their dance. Like a roaring lion, the APIAC is full of strength and vitality, forging ahead courageously, and will continue to provide higher quality and more efficient arbitration services.

At 10:18 a.m., Professor Ma Zhanjun, Chairman of the APIAC, and Secretary Sun Ping jointly unveiled the APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing). Mr. Raphael Zumsteg-Yuan, Chairman of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce Southwest China, Mr. Lawrence S.F Chiong from Malaysia, Mr. Steve Ngo, an international arbitrator, and Professor Tu Guangjian from the University of Macau, among many other guests, witnessed this milestone moment for the APIAC.

APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) is a specialized institution coordinating international arbitration cases in the southwestern region of China. It will promote the development of international arbitration in Southwest China and shape a new model of international arbitration in the region.
