Release time:2024-05-31 16:19:03

On the morning of May 21, 2024, Dean Deng Shanxia, Director He Qiuzhu, Ms. Liu Wenhui, Ms. Lei Shuya, along with 23 postgraduate students from the Law School of Chengdu University, collectively visited the Southwest Service Center of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Sichuan) to carry out a "Legal Service Learning" exchange activity. Director Cai Yue of the Southwest Service Center of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber warmly received them and expressed a hearty welcome.

Director Cai Yue led Dean Deng and his delegation from the Law School of Chengdu University to visit the offices of the Southwest Service Center of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Sichuan) and gave an introduction to the work of each office.

Subsequently, Director Cai Yue and Dean Deng and his delegation from the Law School of Chengdu University held a discussion on the "Legal Service Learning" activity in the main conference room of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber. Secretaries of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber, Wei Yuhan, Zhou Wendi, Lu Renhao, and Li Hang, were also in attendance. At the meeting, Director Cai Yue first extended a warm welcome on behalf of the Southwest Service Center of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber to Dean Deng and his delegation from the Law School of Chengdu University, and shared a presentation on the topic of "International Commercial Arbitration" with the attendees.

Dean Deng began by stating that, with the strategic layout of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the continuous implementation of policies for high-level opening up to the outside world, China's participation in the global economic and trade system has become increasingly deep and comprehensive. As more and more companies actively expand and develop in overseas markets, they also face the challenge of resolving a large number of international frictions and disputes. This has further stimulated the demand for "professional legal service organizations" and "foreign-related legal service talents", providing more opportunities and possibilities for law students being trained by universities and professional organizations in our country. Regarding "talent cultivation in international arbitration institutions", Dean Deng further stated that currently in the field of international arbitration, Chinese entities are somewhat weaker than some countries in terms of formulating and applying arbitration rules, selecting and appointing arbitrators, etc. Due to language barriers, historical factors, and imperfect talent cultivation mechanisms, China's foreign-related workers often lack opportunities to participate in the handling of core affairs in international legal dispute resolution. The establishment of international legal service organizations such as the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber in China has greatly promoted the flexible application and development of China's diversified legal dispute resolution mechanisms, the efficient resolution of foreign-related legal disputes for companies, and the absorption and training of professional talents.

Director He Qiuzhu of the Law School of Chengdu University stated that as a university worker, she fully agrees with Dean Deng's remarks about the significant role that professional international legal service organizations such as the Asia Pacific International Arbitration chamber play in the overseas market expansion of our country's companies and the cultivation of international legal talent. At the same time, as an arbitrator appointed by the arbitration court, she has deeply felt the importance of the professionalism of the arbitration secretary in case handling during her interactions with the arbitration secretaries and other staff in the case handling process.

Finally, Director Cai Yue delivered a speech, stating that Chengdu University Law School, with its long history, is a first-class social science research and talent training base with distinctive characteristics in China. Its teaching philosophy of "combining virtue and law, cultivating morality and foster people" injects a continuous stream of new energy into the construction and development of China's legal service industry. The Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber, as an international arbitration institution committed to deepening the field of international legal services and providing diversified and characteristic dispute resolution mechanisms for all parties, not only aspires to create new options for resolving China's international commercial disputes, but also hopes to establish an equal, open, inclusive, and innovative platform for practical and theoretical development through further in-depth exchanges and cooperation with various universities and professional organizations.
