The Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Singapore) leads the new trend of alternative dispute resolution—2024 Legal Professionals ADR Summit successfully held.

On June 21, 2024, the "2024 Legal Professionals ADR Summit" was successfully held in Shenzhen, China. Co-hosted by the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Singapore), Beihai International Arbitration Court, and the Greater bay area Association of Corporate Counsel(GACC), with co-sponsorship from Guangzhou Rongshan Information Technology Co.,Ltd,Wolters Kluwer Group, and Kingdee International Software Group Co.,Ltd. This event aimed to provide a valuable platform for arbitration service providers, legal professionals, and enterprises to exchange ideas. Through in-depth discussions on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), it aimed to offer new perspectives on commercial dispute resolution for GACC members and their respective organizations.

The summit invited keynote speakers including Ma Zhanjun, President of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Singapore), and Executive Director of the Beihai International Arbitration Court, along with Zhang Junxin, General Counsel of Liby Science and Technology Group and Secretary-General of GACC, to deliver speeches. It also featured thematic presentations by Liu Zhaoyan, Legal Director of Sunwoda Mobility Energy Technology Co.,Ltd, Zhang Hao, Founder of Rongshan Technology, Zeng Xiaoyan, General Counsel of Sofia Group, Luo Xueyuan representing Wolters Kluwer Group, and Yan Quanquan, Assistant President and General Manager of the Shenzhen Branch of Kingdee Group.


Ma Zhanjun, President of APIAC delivered the opening speech at the forum. He emphasized that Shenzhen, as a pioneer city of China's reform and opening-up, carries the new historical mission of high-quality opening-up and pioneering a new journey in commercial arbitration. Co-hosted by the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamebr (Singapore) and Beihai International Arbitration Court, the forum aimed to provide high-quality arbitration legal services for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas.

During his keynote speech on the theme "Advantages and Significance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms" at the forum, President Ma provided a comprehensive overview to attendees. He extensively covered the current status, development trends, and practical experiences of commercial dispute resolution both domestically and internationally. President Ma highlighted the characteristics and benefits of ADR mechanisms, emphasizing their role in helping businesses find optimal strategies for resolving commercial disputes in complex and dynamic business environments.

President Ma noted that the arbitration teams of Beihai International Arbitration Court and Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Singapore) possess extensive experience. They are not only familiar with international laws and commercial rules but also capable of offering professional dispute resolution solutions for intricate cross-border disputes. This not only provides new avenues for resolving disputes for Chinese and foreign enterprises but also offers robust legal support to Chinese enterprises expanding overseas, thereby reducing enterprise risk management costs.

Zhang Junxin, General Counsel of Liby Science and Technology Group and Secretary-General of GACC, shared practical applications and experiences of arbitration in resolving corporate disputes from the perspective of enterprises. He delivered a keynote speech titled "How to Excel as a Rookie Arbitrator," emphasizing the importance for new arbitrators to enhance their dispute resolution capabilities, learn negotiation skills, deeply understand arbitration rules, and ensure fairness and justice in every arbitration case.


Following the keynote speeches, President Ma Zhanjun awarded appointment certificates to a group of outstanding new arbitrators. This gesture not only acknowledged their professional capabilities but also symbolized their official entry into the international arbitration area, where they will contribute their expertise to global commercial dispute resolution efforts.

During the thematic sharing session, Zhang Hao, founder of Guangzhou Rongshan Information Technology Co.,Ltd., presented on "Practical Applications of AI Technology in Disposing of Accounts Receivable," demonstrating to attendees how AI technology can enhance the efficiency of non-litigation procedures. Representing Wolters Kluwer Group, Luo Xueyuan discussed "Leading Change in the Era: How Wolters Kluwer Empowers Enterprises and Institutions in Arbitration" highlighting Wolters Kluwer’s international commercial arbitration collaborations with various renowned arbitration bodies worldwide.

Liu Zhaoyan, Legal Director of Sunwoda Mobility Energy Technology Co.,Ltd, offered insights into international arbitration from diverse perspectives, presenting many forward-looking viewpoints. Zeng Xiaoyan, General Counsel of Sofia Group, focused on the current status and development of domestic arbitration, sharing practical operational experiences with conference participants.

Yan Quanquan, Assistant President and General Manager of the Shenzhen Branch of Kingdee Group, introduced the latest technological advancements of Kingdee Group in innovative applications of arbitration informatization and data management. These presentations not only provided new perspectives to the conference but also offered practical cases and strategies for the digital transformation in corporate legal affairs and arbitration fields.

Following the conclusion of the thematic presentations, the conference participants engaged in a round table discussion and interactive Q&A session on trending topics in arbitration practice. Attendees expressed that they greatly benefited from the discussions.
