In today's era of globalization, international trade has become a significant force driving the development of the world economy. However, with the increase in trade activities, commercial disputes are inevitable. How to effectively and fairly resolve these disputes has become a focal point of attention for legal and business communities worldwide. Against this backdrop, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Arbitration Rules (hereinafter referred to as the "UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules") have emerged. Since their enaction in 1976, these rules have been widely applied globally to resolve various commercial disputes, and their influence cannot be overlooked. This article aims to introduce the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, explore their position and impact in international trade law, and provide readers with understanding and reference.

International commercial arbitration, as a mechanism for dispute resolution, is widely utilized in international commercial activities. However, in practice, even when there is an arbitration agreement between the parties, one party may still raise objections regarding the validity of the arbitration clause and whether the dispute falls within the scope of arbitration. Such objections affect the effective conduct of the arbitration proceedings. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the jurisdictional objections in international commercial arbitration to provide guidance for parties participating in arbitration activities. This paper will start by categorizing the types of jurisdictional objections and systematically analyze the jurisdictional objection issues in international commercial arbitration.

On April 4, 2024, President Ma Zhanjun of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber was invited to visit RAJAN & TANN LCT LAWYERS in Vietnam. The founding partner, Director Vu Thi Que, Partner Dr. Chau Huy Quang, and Partner Nguyen Hung Du warmly welcomed President Ma Zhanjun and the delegation including Arbitrators Yu Ting and Yin Guanjun, and provided an overview of the firm's development, practice areas, and professional development.

On the afternoon of April 2nd, Vice Director Li Bo and a delegation from the International Cooperation and Commerce Bureau of Chengdu Tianfu New Area visited the office of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber Southwest Service Center (Sichuan) to engage in discussions and exchanges regarding the Chamber's establishment in the Tianfu Central Legal Services District, as well as future cooperation in legal industry development, international arbitration services, and related fields. On the morning of April 7, 2024, the launch ceremony of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber Hong Kong Arbitration Center was grandly held at the Chung Hing Commercial Building in Connaught Rd Central, Central, Hong Kong. Mr. Ma Zhanjun, Chairman of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber, Mr. Zhang Xianchu, tenured professor of the University of Hong Kong, Visiting Professor Mylene Chan from the International Law School of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Ms. Huang Xiaoling, Vice Dean of the Macau International Arbitration Research Institute, Mr. Leung William, Member of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber, and Mr. Liu Tie, Representative of the Singapore Economic and Trade Representative Office, as well as other lawyers and corporate representatives from Malaysia, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau, attended the launch ceremony.

On the morning of March 29, 2024, the inauguration ceremony of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber Southwest Service Center (Sichuan) was grandly held at the National Lawyers College Western Branch in the Tianfu Central Legal Service District, Chengdu.

Arbitration, as an ancient and effective mechanism for dispute resolution, can be traced back to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece, and Rome. In these ancient civilizations, arbitration was widely used to settle commercial, familial, and other disputes. During that time, arbitration was typically facilitated by respected members of the community or religious leaders. However, compared to modern arbitration systems, the procedures and forms of ancient arbitration were relatively simple. Nevertheless, ancient arbitration systems provided a model and foundation for resolving disputes for future generations, profoundly influencing the formation and development of modern arbitration systems.

With the deepening of global economic integration and the increase in international commercial activities, arbitration, as an effective means of resolving commercial disputes, plays an increasingly important role. Shanghai, as one of China's most dynamic and international cities, attracts considerable attention in the field of arbitration. This article will review Shanghai's history and current situation in resolving international disputes, its advantages as an emerging international arbitration center, and the challenges and prospects it faces as such a center, from three perspectives.

On the morning of March 6, 2024, Mr. Qiu Yu, Director of the International Exchange Center of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (APIAC), accompanied by Mr. Yin Guanjun, an international arbitration expert, paid a visit to the Commercial Section of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN located in Jakarta, Indonesia. They were warmly received by Mr. Wang Daohao, Counsellor of the Mission, and staff of the Commercial Section.

In international commercial practice, parties submit disputes to arbitration institutions agreed upon in effective arbitration agreements. In the arbitration process, the determination of the applicable law for assessing the validity of international commercial arbitration agreements, procedural rules for international commercial arbitration, the substantive rights and obligations of arbitration parties, smooth progress of arbitration proceedings, and the enforceability, recognition, and execution of arbitral awards constitute what is commonly referred to as the legal framework governing international commercial arbitration. Due to the "international" nature of disputes in international commercial arbitration and the necessity to fully respect party autonomy, such cases often involve the application of laws from multiple countries. Hence, it is essential to elaborate on the issues concerning the application of substantive and procedural laws in international arbitration.

On March 16, 2024, Chairman Ma Zhanjun of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber was invited to attend the Fourth Summit of the International Economic Administrative Law Roundtable Forum on "Investment Regulation Law under High-level Opening-up," hosted by the International Economic Administrative Law Roundtable Forum of Fudan University and organized by the International Economic Administrative Law Team of Fudan University Law School.

On March 3, 2024, the training seminar on "Theory and Practice of International Commercial Arbitration," hosted by the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber, was successfully held in Chongqing. This event garnered widespread attention and attracted participants from various sectors. The purpose of this training seminar was to enhance participants' theoretical and practical knowledge of international commercial arbitration and mediation, cultivate emerging talents in the field of international commercial arbitration and mediation in the Asia-Pacific region, and address the challenges posed by the growing transnational commercial activities. This initiative aims to promote the development of international commercial arbitration and mediation mechanisms and improve the efficiency and professionalism of commercial dispute resolution in the region.

On the morning of March 2, 2024, the grand opening ceremony of Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (“APIAC”) Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) was held at Huangjin Bay·Zhigu in Shapingba District, Chongqing. The ceremony brought together dignitaries from various sectors including government, commerce, and education, with all guests gathering to witness the ceremony of the new chapter for APIAC Southwest Service Center (Chongqing).
