    Ma Zhanjun from Chinese mainland is the first President, Member, and Director of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber, President of the Macao Institute of International Arbitration, Visiting Professor and PhD Supervisor at Macau University of Science and Technology, Professor at Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Deputy Director of its Centre for Commercial Arbitration Research, Adjunct Professor of law at both Southwest Jiaotong University and Southwest Medical University, Doctor of civil and commercial law from Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Doctor of history from Jinan University, Postdoctoral Fellow in international law from Wuhan University, Editor-in-chief of the Study of International Arbitration sponsored by International Association of Universities in Macao. He has been engaged in the research on the theory of arbitration and international arbitration for more than 20 years and published 4 monographs and 30+ articles in arbitration related areas. He has been involved in commercial arbitration practice constantly and has made a substantial contribution to the internationalization and standardization of Chinese arbitration institutions as general secretary of Guangzhou Arbitration Commission and executive president of Beihai Court of International Arbitration. Under his leadership, the annual cases of Beihai Court of International Arbitration have surged from 200+ to 60k+. He also advanced several prominent reforms in Beihai Court of International Arbitration which made it the only pilot unit for standardization of arbitration institutions appointed by Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China.

He earned his PhD on Private International Law at University of Aberdeen. He serves as a Standing Director of China Society of Private International Law and convener of the International Conflict of Laws Research Committee. He is also an Endowed Scholar at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, and a directory member of the International Academy of Comparative Law.
