On August 26, 2024, the "Hangzhou Help Enterprises to Invest in Southeast Asia Seminar —— Vietnam Malaysia Special Show" was successfully held at the Zhonghai Development Center in Binjiang District. On the afternoon of August 18, 2024, the "Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement between Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (APIAC) and the Institute for Social and Cultural Research at Macau University of Science and Technology (ISCR, MUST), and the Launch of the New Issue of Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Journal (APIAJ)" was successfully held in Singapore. On August 17, 2024, the 59th Anniversary Gala of the Republic of Singapore, hosted by the China-Singapore Sichuan Chamber of Commerce and Singapore Global Network, was grandly held at the Gran Meliá Chengdu Hotel. Recently, a delegation led by Mr. Ma Zhanjun, President of Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (APIAC), and Ms. Li XinYi, Secretary-General of APIAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center, were invited to visit to the Everwin Law Office and Beijing ZhongLun W&D Law Firm Shenzhen Office. During these visits, they conducted two in-depth and forward-looking sharing sessions on the topics of "Latest Trends in International Arbitration and Opportunities for Chinese Lawyers" and "Challenges and Opportunities for Chinese Lawyers in the Development of International Arbitration Practices."

The talk show, initiated by the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber(APIAC), will focus on exchanging and sharing insights on the future prospects of international arbitration, the growth of international arbitration institutions, and the arbitration environments and practical experiences in different countries and regions.

As one of the most important financial and trade centers in the world, Hong Kong occupies a significant position in the field of international commercial arbitration. The revision process of the Hong Kong Arbitration Ordinance represents the modernization of its arbitration legal system. This Ordinance not only draws lessons from the best practices of international arbitration but also adapts to local realities, providing an efficient, flexible, and just legal framework for the settlement of international commercial disputes. This paper will analyze the evolution, main contents, and features of the Arbitration Ordinance in Hong Kong, to help you understand the institutional advantages of arbitration in Hong Kong.

Recently, Ma Zhanjun, President of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (APIAC), and Li Xinyi, Secretary-General of APIAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center, were invited to deliver thematic sharing sessions titled "Opportunities and Challenges for Chinese Lawyers in International Arbitration" at several prominent law firms in Guangzhou, including Beijingshi Yingke Law Firm Guangzhou Office, Guangdong United Intellectus Law Firm, and W&H Law Firm (Guangzhou Office). These sessions attracted significant attention from the legal community in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Headed by Deng Zhaoxia, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Local People's Congress of Shapingba District, and the delegation visited Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (“APIAC”) Southwest Service Center (Chongqing) on 15th July 2024, to commence a comprehensive research on promotion of legal education and awareness.

Third-Party Funding (TPF) refers to the provision of financial assistance by a third party unrelated to the parties involved in arbitration to one of the parties before or during the arbitration process.If the funded party prevails, the third party is entitled to receive a certain percentage of the remuneration. Third-party funding is considered an investment in international commercial arbitration. On one hand, it can alleviate the difficulties faced by parties in participating in international commercial arbitration due to financial constraints. On the other hand, it may increase the number of speculative cases, potentially endangering procedural justice and even triggering legitimacy crises in international commercial arbitration. Establishing rules for disclosing commercial arbitration can to a certain extent mitigate the issues such funding may cause, such as harm to the host country's interests and conflicts of interest. The evaluation of TPF varies among countries in theory and practice, and different arbitration institutions have different regulations on this issue. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the arbitration rules of various arbitration institutions and combine existing arbitration case practices to analyze the disclosure system for third-party funding in detail.

As the global governance system becomes more refined and the international order rapidly evolves, international commercial arbitration is playing an increasingly crucial role in resolving international commercial disputes. The successful resolution of these disputes depends on legal professionals who are well-versed in international rules and commercial practices. Enhancing the development of talent in the field of international commercial arbitration will help this method of dispute resolution to continuously showcase its unique advantages and characteristics amidst a variety of current dispute resolution mechanisms.

On July 3, 2024, President Ma Zhanjun and his delegation from the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Singapore) were invited to attend the thematic sharing session organized by the Wenzhou Private Advisory Board (Singapore).
