Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber Indonesia Board invited to "Indonesian Investment Landscape - Legal and Regulatory Updates"

Release time:2024-07-12 09:22:59

On July 9th, 2024, President Ma Zhanjun of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber(“APIAC”), along with his team, was invited to attend the "Indonesian Investment Landscape - Legal and Regulatory Updates"

Organized by the Tian Tai Law Firm in collaboration with the Asian Legal Business Platform, this forum gathered experienced legal professionals from China and Indonesia, including senior lawyers, corporate legal representatives, and international arbitration experts. As one of the most vibrant markets in Asia, Indonesia presents a robust potential for growth accompanied by numerous developmental opportunities. Participants engaged in comprehensive exchanges during the forum, focusing on leveraging Indonesia's developmental prospects and mitigating associated legal risks, and relevant challenges effectively.

During the forum, President Ma engaged in a comprehensive and profound discussion with participants, centered on "How Chinese Lawyers Utilize International Arbitration to help Overseas Chinese Enterprises". Initially, President Ma analyzed the current state of Sino-Indonesia trade, focusing on the challenges encountered by Chinese enterprises. He pointed out the critical role of international arbitration as a timely and adaptable mechanism for dispute resolution in the face of various uncertainties and risks in international operations. Furthermore, President Ma elaborated on the crucial role of Chinese lawyers in this process: Chinese lawyers act not only as purveyors of legal expertise but also a solid support for Chinese enterprises on their overseas journeys. Through proficiently applying international arbitration rules and procedures, Chinese lawyers can effectively help enterprises prevent legal risks, resolve cross-border disputes, and provide professional legal advice for the steady advancement of Chinese enterprises in the global market.

President Ma subsequently provided an objective analysis of the current issue of high international arbitration costs. He also introduced the unique advantages of the APIAC. On one hand, APIAC pays special attention to the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in cross-border disputes. While ensuring the provision of high-quality and professional international arbitration services, it offers more economical fee structures, effectively filling a gap in the market and opening the door to international arbitration for small and medium-sized enterprises. On the other hand, APIAC leverages its unique multicultural background to establish a multilingual service system, covering English, Chinese, Indonesian, and other languages. It brings together outstanding arbitrators from countries and regions such as China, Indonesia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, helping clients overcome legal and cultural differences in international disputes, thus ensuring the objectivity and neutrality of arbitration decisions.

The forum concluded successfully. The attendees concentrated on Indonesia's investment risk mitigation and strategic responses from a global perspective, engaging in comprehensive and profound dialogues. This not only enhanced the participants' thorough comprehension of Indonesia's investment environment but also delivered novel insights and strategic measures for navigating legal risks and formulating effective responses in future investment.

In the future, APIAC Indonesia Board will continue to enhance communication with Chinese and Indonesian lawyers and enterprises. With an international perspective, APIAC Indonesia Board aims to provide more comprehensive legal services for Sino-Indonesia trade and investment.
