Visit of Chairman Ma Zhanjun and Delegation from the Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Center to the Consulate General of Singapore in Chengdu

On the morning of December 15, 2023, at 11 a.m., Chairman Ma Zhanjun and his delegation from the Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Center (APIAC) visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in Chengdu. They received a warm welcome from Consul General Mr. Chen Zhi'en and Vice Consul Ms. Zheng Huiwen.

Chairman Ma Zhanjun provided an overview of the development history, organizational structure, and the latest advancements of the Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Center. APIAC, approved by the Ministry of Law of Singapore, has established its presence in the Maxwell Chambers, a multi-door dispute resolution center established by the Singapore government. APIAC has also set up the Hong Kong Arbitration Center in China and established Southwest Service Centers in Chongqing and Chengdu, with plans for branches in Indonesia and Malaysia underway. Consul General Chen Zhi'en warmly welcomed Chairman Ma Zhanjun and the APIAC delegation. He highly praised APIAC's initiative of "expanding beyond Singapore and strategically positioning in Southeast Asia," expressing hope that APIAC would play a crucial role in global dispute resolution. He commended the efforts of APIAC and its strategic expansion, emphasizing the importance of APIAC's contribution to international dispute resolution on a global scale.

During the conversation, Consul General Chen Zhi'en and Chairman Ma Zhanjun engaged in a lively discussion on the seat of arbitration in international arbitration. Chairman Ma Zhanjun acknowledged Singapore's excellent reputation and recognition in the international community. He highlighted Singapore's conducive legal environment, political stability, and efficient judicial system, making it a preferred choice for international arbitration. Consul General Chen Zhi'en emphasized that Singapore has consistently been an ideal choice for the seat of arbitration for international arbitration institutions. He expressed his desire for more international commercial entities to choose Singapore as their arbitration venue.

The exchange concluded successfully, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between the arbitration institution and the consulate.
