Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (Malaysia) Visits the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI)

On 1st October 2024, Ms. Iris Pan, the Director of Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber (“APIAC”) Southeast Asia Development Center, Ms. Deng Zhaoying, the Chief Representative of APIAC (Malaysia) , Ms. Yin Lingling and Ms. Chen xinqi, the Representatives of APIAC (Malaysia), Ms. Yong Shun Yee, the Deputy Secretary-General of APIAC (Malaysia), and Mr. Ray Ong, the Case Counsel of APIAC (Malaysia) were invited to visit Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (“MICCI”). Mr. Lim Chong Ling and Mr. Kim Tan, The Executive Committee of Central Branch of MICCI, , Ms. Harpreet Kaur, the General Manager of MICCI, and Mr. Wayne Shu, the Advocate of MICCI together extended a warm welcome to Ms. Iris Pan and her delegation.

During the discussions, Mr. Lim Chong Ling addresses the difficulties faced by foreign multinational companies in Malaysia including language barriers especially in the course of resolving legal disputes. In response, Ms. Iris Pan stated the APIAC as an international arbitration institution dedicated to providing professional arbitration and mediation services for Chinese enterprises. Particularly in terms of language, cultural and legal adaptability the APIAC(Malaysia) is eager to serve through its efficient and professional service systems, rigorous and practical work attitude to enable those foreign multinational companies to address local legal issues more efficiently during the dispute resolution.

Ultimately, both parties agreed that, in the process of international investment and trade by multinational companies in Malaysia, the use of diversified dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and mediation is crucial for enhancing legal risk prevention and improving business efficiency. In the future, both parties look forward to further exchanges on cross-border dispute resolution, Sino-Malaysian commercial trade cooperation, etc.
