APIAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center and Liberty Chambers Host Luncheon Meeting

On October 17, 2024, Ms. Xinyi Li, Secretary-General of the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Center Hong Kong Arbitration Center (“APIAC-HKAC”), met with Mr. David Leung, Senior Counsel, Mr. Jimmy Ma, Barrister, Mr. Adrian J Halkes, Barrister, and Mr. Foster Yim, Barrister, from Liberty Chambers over a luncheon meeting. Established in 2003, Liberty Chambers brings together a team of legal professionals with extensive experience and internationally recognized qualifications, it is renowned for its expertise in dispute resolution, particularly in commercial crime, regulatory matters, and immigration. During the meeting, Ms. Xinyi Li shared the recent developments of APIAC-HKAC, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality and efficiency of its arbitration services to better cater for the needs of international clients. The two parties then engaged in in-depth discussions on how to leverage the legal framework of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“Hong Kong SAR”) to develop arbitration services and collaborate to promote Hong Kong SAR as a preferred seat for international arbitration. Both parties acknowledged the strong support provided by the open and inclusive legal system and the fair and efficient judicial procedures of Hong Kong SAR for arbitration services. The luncheon meeting has fostered a deeper understanding between APIAC-HKAC and Liberty Chambers, with both expressing their commitment to maintaining close communication and working together to enhance the international competitiveness of arbitration services in Hong Kong SAR.
